Pre-Calculus

Course Description

All students should have completed an Intermediate Algebra satisfactorily with a minimum grade of a C or better! While the placement exam states 101 or higher good working knowledge of linear equations concepts, polynomials & factoring,  rational expressions and radicals is REQUIRED. Review this material and be prepared.

 

Prerequisite: Math 102 Intermediate Algebra

 

Required Materials

The text for our course will be College Algebra and Trigonometry by Aufmann, Barker, and Nation Fourth Edition.  A scientific calculator is required for performing various calculations necessary for classroom discussions homework assignments and examinations.

 

Learning Objectives

Students should take this course to build a foundation for their academic success. To prepare students with the skills necessary to begin the Calculus sequence. Topics to be explored include relations and functions, domain and range, graphing techniques, polynomial functions, exponential and logarithmic functions and equations, trigonometric functions and their graphs, trigonometric identities, inverse trigonometric functions and trigonometric equations.

 

Grading

Our grading policy will be 3 exams each 20% and a Cumulative Final Exam 40% of the final grade. The LOWEST GRADE WILL NOT BE DROPPED. There will be NO MAKE UP exams unless a  doctors note or court documentation is shown. No Exceptions!
