English Composition II
Course Description
ENG 102 is a required college level writing course which expands and enhances both the writing skills and the concepts learned in EN 101. The course will focus on readings in imaginative literature based on a genre/chronological premise. The student will hone his/her critical reading and analytic skills and apply them to writing expository essays based on those readings.
All students will do the following:
- Six essays of approximately one or more typed pages 50%
- One longer research paper of approx. 10 pages 15%
- Two examinations 25%
- Participate constructively in class discussion 10%

Grading
The standards for grading are those delineated in the English Dept. "Green Sheet"
Note: All due dates are FIRM. Exceptions will obtain only where there are serious, documentable problems. All late submissions will be penalized one full grade per each day late.
Course Policies:
While it is understood that sometimes absences occur of necessity, excessive, unexplained absence will result in lowering of grade or failure.
