CSP Computing

Course Description

This course begins with a discussion of Webmail. You will send and receive Webmail messages, work with attachments, create folders to store your messages. We will then have an overview of computer concepts and the basics of using Microsoft® Windows. Next, you will work with Word to type letters and use AutoCorrect, Copy and Paste, and other features. You will also learn basic techniques to browse for, open, move and copy, and delete and restore files. Once you are comfortable working with these tasks, you will move on to browsing the Web. You will perform searches, interpret a list of keyword search hits, narrow your searches. Finally, you will develop an online e-portfolio.

Required Materials

Textbooks:  Craig, G.  (1997)   Clinical Calculations Using Dimensional Analysis Philadelphia:Lippincott.

Other: Computer Assisted Instruction Resource Learning Center with staffing and hardware to support practice of calculations using Delmar’s “Accu-Calc” and Lippincott's "Calculate with Care" network program.

 

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Send, receive, forward emails and email attachments
  • Navigate in a computer that uses Microsoft Windows
  • Create, edit, and manage Word documents
  • Create, move, copy, and delete files and folders
  • Perform internet searches
  • Develop an e-portfolio

 

Grading

Your course grade will be based upon tests, lab assignments, home work and class participation.

 

Please arrive on time for each class meeting, and stay until the class is over. Absences of more than three classes can result in a failing grade.  If you are absent, you are responsible for the work covered in class.  Please notify me if you must leave early for any class session.
