Essay Questions
Answer both of the following essays. Each is worth 25 points. As with definitions, be sure to use examples from the readings to illustrate your answers. Be as detailed as possible.
Essay #1
Describe the myths faced by any 2 of the following ethnic women's groups: Asian women, Latina, and African-American women. Next, drawing on Staples and Franklin, briefly discuss the challenges men of African descent cope with in the U.S.
Essay #2
Define 3rd world feminism (Hurtado and Mohanty). What connections might women of color in the U.S. share with women of color in the developing world? Then describe the problems faced by 3rd world women workers (Enloe and Ehrenreich and Fuentes). Define the triple alliance of elites (Enloe). Whom do the MNC's prefer as workers and what effects do these women suffer from? Last, how might a focus on women's rights as human rights improve the fate of women in the developing world?
